This is the privacy statement of the Australian Subscription Television and Radio Association (ASTRA). ASTRA is the peak body for the subscription television and radio industry in Australia.

ASTRA respects your privacy. ASTRA is bound by the Privacy Act 1988 and manages personal information under its control in accordance with the National Privacy Principles as set out in Schedule 3 of the Privacy Act 1988.

Collecting Your Information

ASTRA engages @www Pty Ltd to collect personal information through the ASTRA Awards website for the purpose of conducting the voting in the public voting categories of the ASTRA Awards as well as conducting competitions associated with this voting. ASTRA also collects personal information in order to supply additional information to you about products and services related to the ASTRA Awards if you confirm to us that you wish to receive this information. Subject to this prior approval, ASTRA commercial sponsors and advertisers located both in and outside Australia may wish to send you information about their products or services.

If you subsequently decide that you do not wish to receive information about the products and services please contact us with your request to be removed from our mailing list. We will use reasonable endeavours to remove your name within 14 days of receipt of notice.

When you visit our website or download information from it, our Internet Service Provider makes a record of your visit and records the following information: your Internet address, your domain name if applicable, the date and time of your visit to the website, the pages you accessed and documents downloaded, the previous website you have visited, and the type of browser you are using. This information is only used for statistical and website development purposes.

We will not use or disclose any personal information for any other purpose without your consent. If we do, it will only be disclosed to someone else as required by law.

How we use and disclose your information

ASTRA engages @www to maintain a contact database in order to manage our dealings with you. ASTRA takes reasonable steps to protect any personal information we may collect from you from misuse, loss, unauthorised access or change.

The personal information we collect is only used for the purposes for which it is collected. For example, when you contact us in order for us to provide you with information about ASTRA or answer a query you may have, you may provide us with your contact details.

The contact details we hold have been obtained in the usual course of our dealings with you. Unless you tell us otherwise, we will continue to use the contact information we have about you in this way.

Access & Accuracy

ASTRA aims to ensure that your personal information is accurate, complete and up-to-date. To assist with this, please contact us if your details change. If you believe the information we have about you is not accurate, please contact us and we will take all reasonable steps to correct or update the information. You may also contact us to examine your personal information if required. We will use reasonable endeavours to provide a complete list of your personal information within 14 days of receipt of your enquiry.

ASTRA will take all reasonable steps to protect the personal information you transmit to us using our website however, ASTRA cannot guarantee the security of such information because data transmissions over the Internet are never totally secure.
